I have looked for the specific registry path, but I only see the following;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\FileRenameOperations

I the path….”Pending” FileRenameOperations is not listed. The only registry entry found is the following;
(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)

I have even run the Symantec troubleshooter and no problems are found.

Any suggestions?

Just had to post a response to this thread. Thank you so much. This also solves the problem with Virtual Box. I was receiving a nonsense error that Visualization was not enabled in the BIOS (but it was). I also could not install a 64 bit OS inside a virtual machine. But this trick solved all my issues. I was using a Dell Optiplex 755. I agree that it doesn’t make sense that you have to have Trusted Execution set to off, but it does work.

I have big time problem installing Symantec RU6 in a brand new Windows 7 installation, This is my solution: Search and delete all entries for “PendingFileRenameOperations” also deleted all Temp files from USERS\xxxxxx\APPDATA\LOCAL\TEMP.
Some one asked here why Symantec does not fix this problems???, ‘cos they don’t know how !!! until people like us pay BIG TIME Inconvenience and do their JOB !!! Symantec, Microfoft and other big ones wait until they read blogs like this and then turn around and fixed the inconclusive products….
