I have recently rolled out a new AV product across the systems called Symantec Endpoint. It is a well known product and is a vast improvement in terms of footprint to the previous versions of Symantec Antivirus. I decided to install the console on an existing Windows 2008 server with no success. This is because at the time of writing, Symantec haven’t written an update to the software that actually works on Windows 2008.
I decided to virtualise some 32bit Windows 2003 servers and just install the console on them which works fine. I tried to install it on an existing Windows 2003 physical box that handles RAS, but as has been the problem since day one with it, the console cannot be logged into if you have any other websites installed on the same server running the console. It is a real shame, because the product is very good other than that.
Windows 2008 has been out for a while now, so what is taking Symantec so long to make the update available??
